At the age of 27, and in the midst of losing everything, an exhausted and distraught Joseph S. Fusaro decided to see if he could write his way out of a deep clinical depression that came after years of trial and error with medications, misdiagnoses, and a longtime battle with insomnia. He concluded that it took a lifetime of the wrong use of language and learned helplessness to get him in that place, and maybe the only way to create some peace and lightness of mind was to take the reigns of his life and write out a new story; one of acceptance, perseverance, strength, and a little bit of compassion for himself and others.

After spending most of his 20's in and out of hospitals with depression, bipolar 1, agoraphobia, general anxiety disorder, and insomnia, he turned to his journal and mindfulness in a final attempt to get his life back on track. For more than a few years he gave up nights and weekends to work on his health and himself every waking hour. In time he would begin to write and speak professionally with several mental health advocacy organizations including This Is My Brave, NAMI, and JCK Foundation. Since he first went public with his poetry in the This Is My Brave NYC show (2015), he’s published 8 poetry books that follow his journey from absolute rock bottom to reclaiming his health, finding peace, and most importantly feeling alive again.

You can also find his poetry books on Amazon and occasionally he will list signed or personalized copies on Etsy.

Lament & Praise: A Collection of Poetry 2019-2022

From Prosaic to Tragedy to Love Story to Deliverance; Lament and Praise is the 9th collection of poetry released by author, Joseph S. Fusaro.

Written after Prosaic, in the months leading up to 2020 and continuing until the fall of 2022, this is the longest that Joe had gone without releasing anything publicly since His first book A Little More Time in 2015.

This Book Includes his own internal grappling with a world of confusion, devastation, and heartbreak after having thought that he had found peace in his life. The years 2019-2022 forced Joseph to go deep within to both analyze and clarify who and what he was prioritizing in his life.  In a world of false Idols, Joe looked back into his heart and his past to write a better song.  Wouldn't you know that he followed the north star right back to where he started.

May your journey through the universe and all of its mysteries be a quick one and I pray that you find your way back home. God speed kid... Literally.
